Video Gaming in the Olympics
Parents of gamers, don’t despair! There is hope on the horizon for your kids who rarely see the light of day, let alone get any exercise. In an effort to increase viewership of the Olympics, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is considering the inclusion of competitive video gaming in the Olympics. That’s right! Your kids may soon be contenders for the Olympics. Personally, I think it’s about time. After all, the best gamers train all day, every day. Question is – will they receive physical or virtual medals?
These musings brought to you by Doctor S. Check out his adventures in the books entitled “Welcome to Earth, Doctor S” and “Doctor S and the Great Diamond Escapade”.
Dear Dr S,
ESports are already a major thing worldwide. For example, Dota2 gave away $6,000,000 in prizes in 2020. With average prizes around $111,111, who wants a virtual medal!
Best regard!
